Case Study - Lucent Technologies

Problem: Lucent aquired several companies to create a Network services group. These companies had several different ways of tracking time and utilization of work hours. Lucent needed a solution that would track the time on projects by individual employees with employees that did not have internet access and could not attach to any Lucent internal system, but they did have email. This would need to be a stepping stone to incorporate these employees into the Lucent PeopleSoft application so would have an indefinite but limited lifespan. Solution: WEBuildem.com, Inc created a system that allowed an employee to email a preformatted MS Excel spreadsheet as an attachment to a specified email address. This email would be retreived and the attachment imported into a SQL database. These entries would be audited by administrative staff and reports generated that would for the first time, show utilization of resources on a number of special projects.
